A Curly Christmas

A fun Christmas adventure film for the whole family.

The comedy elements come largely from the rather common situation in films when children take control of the actions of adults. This leads to the creation of the roles of the adults - naive and easily fooled, the bad guys turn out to be good-hearted and the good guys a bit duplicitous. The film manages to appeal to a really wide audience, appealing to different tastes and senses of humour.

Christmas in the Jungle

"Christmas in the Jungle" tells the story of ten-year-old Paula, whose family has moved to an exotic country because her father is a geologist and works in a gold mine. Paula longs for Christmas, but what if there is no winter?

The exotic adventure film "Christmas in the Jungle" is special because of its unusual filming location - it is the first Latvian film to be shot almost entirely on the other side of the world, in faraway Indonesia. The actors and crew spent more than two months there, working side by side with local helpers.

The cinema screening takes place thanks to the support of the "Civil participation promotion program for diaspora NGO activity support" project of The Society Integration Foundation of the Republic of Latvia!

The event is financially supported by the Society Integration Fund from Latvian state budget funds allocated by the Ministry of Culture/ The project "Inside Latvia through the works of cinema masters" has been prepared with the financial support of the Society Integration Fund from Latvian state budget funds. "Latvian Poetry Journey Through Time"

Poetry is our conscience, our soul and an integral part of our culture. It is in us - in the childhood poems we recited at school, the holiday poems we said at the Christmas tree, and even in the lines of poetry we wrote from the heart to a loved one. And now you have the chance to experience this poetic world for yourself!

We invite you to the event "Latvian Poetry Journey Through Time" at Southsea Library! This will be an inspiring and heartfelt event where you will enjoy poetry readings by Latvian authors, hear well-known songs that have become part of our cultural heritage, and take part in workshops to try your hand at writing poetry yourself.

Discussions on the role of poetry in preserving Latvian identity will provide an opportunity to share views and thoughts on how poetry unites us and shapes our national consciousness. Maybe you have a notebook full of your own lyrical lines, longing to be read? Then this is your chance!

The free microphone will be open to all - come and present your favourite poem or that of another author. Every word, every line will become part of the common story that makes up the richness of our national poetry.

The event has been made possible with the support of the Diaspora Support Projects Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, for which we are very grateful. Thanks to their support, we are able to create an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the values of Latvian culture and the magic of poetry even far away from their homeland.

Entrance is free - come and experience the power of poetry with us! Meet us at Southsea Library for a journey through time through poetry and song.

You are cordially invited!
